How long have you had it on there? My Magnaflow sounded great for a few weeks too until it opened up. Your pipes aren't mandrel bent though so you are losing some flow.

DC 4-1, high flow cat, 2.5" Magnaflow catback = "Splaaaaaaat!" I need a new exhaust. S/C = loud.
my piping is mandrel bent. i've had it on since october, at least.

I have a custom magnaflow setup on my Sol and it sounds totally awesome. it's not extremely quiet, but there isn't an aftermarket exhaust made that'll be quiet on my car. after going through multiple setups with multiple mufflers, I can tell you that magnaflow is the best I've used so far.

If you are looking to stay under 400 magnaflow and megan racing will be your best choices from what I have heard, but personally from many sound clips i have heard, plus some in person i would spend the extra $100 or so and go with EvoII. Very deep, not raspy tone, plus great performance gains also. I ordered mine about a week ago from City-Speed (ebay seller) for $417 plus 50 shipping.

I forgot to add that the way an exhaust sounds is also dependant on your engine setup. a D16 or D17 isn't going to sound the same as a B16 or any DOHC VTEC.

FWIW, I have a D series with no intention of swapping.

I really don't want a loud exhaust at all, I like the sound of engine, rather than exhaust. Granted, there isn't much to be made from my puny VTEC, but I'll have to deal with it.

Anyways, I was driving my dad's 06 EX today, I really like the sound of his car... so something like that is what I am looking for, quiet, but nice sounding. I drive about 500 miles a week, and have no desire to lose any more hearing than I have already lost. Three years in a hardcore punk band doesn't leave much left.

The longer the muffler, the more surface area for muffling. I always try to go long with any muffler i get, like the one I installed on my dads 86 Suburban. I took a big block muffler and stuck it on his 350's exhaust. It sounded deep and mean (and quiet)

If you want a deep tone I would say your best options are EvoII or MagnaFlow. Greddy is gonna cost you a nice chuck of change but the quality and sound are AWESOME. MagnaFlow is cheaper but IMO sounds a little more raspier than Greddy but still not too ricey.
