wat header do?

What exactly does the "header" do to improve performance? Also is it better to get the header before getting exhaust or does it mater?

In automotive engineering, an intake manifold or inlet manifold is a part of an engine that supplies the fuel/air mixture to the cylinders. An exhaust manifold or header collects the exhaust gases from multiple cylinders into one pipe.

basically,the header lets the air/exhaust out of the engine more efficient, and is tuned for low restriction and improved performance
