i was wondering if any one knew what type of exhaust this is so i can find the right type of silencer for it... i got the exhaust used from someone and it is really nice, but it hurts my ears taking 4 1/2 hour trips so i kinda want to buy a silencer, but not one of those universal cheap ones...

i'm gonna have to say it'll be near impossible to install a silencer on that muffler.

additionally, why would you not want to get a universal silencer? they're all the same. they're only specific to the diameter of the piping. however, because a silencer is not something you'll be able to use with your current muffler, there's no need to go further in details.

 

I searched JC Whitney for the muffler and couldn't find it....

and i can see why you think that this type of muffler can't have a silencer, but why does it have a hole for the bolt on it?

 

i don't know how to answer that... i don't know why there's a hole. from what i've seen, silencers look as such:

THAT muffler changes diameter like right after the tip, so common sense tells me it wouldn't fit.

 

Theres a possiblility that the hole you seeing is for a universal silencer but on the other hand that hole could also just be a drain hole.

Maybe it came from ebay than? my muffler i got from a buddy doesnt have anything stamped on it either so i dont know where it came from. I would say just measure the dia. and get a universal one

What does that muffler sound like?

 

throw some 2.25" piping on there with a big ol' resonator......that will silence it some

 

Or just buy a magnaflow muffler with the silencer tip included then you can remove it when ever you want. E-bay sell those Magnaflow exhaust for a little over 100 dollars with free shipping. If interested I can post one so you an see
