Default What did original owner do to exaust?

I'm not sure if anyone will be able to tell from the pics, but what did the original owner of my car do to the exhaust? It looks like he cut something and welded on a tip? Any comments appreciated, I'm really in the dark on this one. Hey, at least it sounds pretty good (nice and low).

Let me know if you need more pics of something else to help me determine wtf I have :P
If it's a POS for performance (probably is, I mean I know whatever I have it isn't name brand), I'll probably get a new exhaust system

stock muffler with a tip welded on... and I say +1 on the new exhaust... just make sure it's a cat-back

woot quick responses for the win!

So I guess its just the tip itself thats making the low sound?
For a new Exhaust im looking at the Magnaflow or RS*R Ex-mag

yeah, it's the tip itself that creates the exhaust tone. That's why muffler silencers work... if you look at one, all it really does is make the final outlet size around 1.75" while blocking off the rest of the outet. And Magnaflow and RS*R are both decent companies to go with. As for me, I'd love me a true Mugen twin-loop exhaust... if only they weren't $800 lol
