Will at 91-94 exhaust fit a '88
I just purchased a commuter car to get me back and forth to work.....but I have to say it is the ultimate ricer...big wing, decals all over, and the big annoyance is the loud exhaust.
I am not sure exactly what manufacture of the muffler is, but it is big and loud. I have been looking for just a stock muffler that someone is getting ride of being they might be upgrading. So my question is, will a 91-94 civic stock muffler fit on my '88 civic? I know it will need to be welded on but the muffler shop wants $135 to get it back to stock, I am thinking I can get a used muffler for $20 or less and then pay the $50 to have it installed. Does this sound like a good plan?? Any other suggestions to quieting it down with out spending more then $75's....
Thanks for the help, I have learned a lot already from what I read here..

I think that's pretty accurate. to swap mufflers is a minimal of work for most shops. find the muffler at a junkyard and don't pay any more than $75 to have them swap it for the one that's on there already (unless they can show you some serious complications like hangers or holes or whatnot that will reqire more hourly work).
oh, and shave that wing the hell off of there and get rid of the decals. they WILL drive you nuts.

I think that if you find one from a 91 it should work. I dont' know about anything newer than that. I think that's the cut-off of that age range.
could somebody please verify that for me (in other words correct me if I'm wrong).
