all show no go
here's the thing. i dont know what exactly everyone's opinion of "rice" actually is. i know it varies from person to person. BUT i see no problem with cars noticeably modified. for the reason that some cars are built strictly for show. for looks. i just don't think that everyone should always make fun of the cars that are "all show, no go".
i dunno maybe it's just me, but nothing looks better than a show car. if it has engine mods, great, if not, then no big deal. i think big park bench wings would accent beautifully on a highly modified show car. but like i said, that's jsut me.
what do you all think?

Honestly, i've tried to chill out about the whole "rice" thing. But the way I look at it is this... If you're going to spend the money, why not spend it on something thats going to serve a purpose? Sure, a body kit makes it look nice (sometimes...), but whats the point if all its going to do is attract the wrong sort of attention? (ie, cops, theives, vandals, etc...)
I work hard for my money, and I'd like my money to work hard for me, thats my mindset.

great points there. and i do totally agree, show cars WILL definently attract cops, thieves, etc.
however as serving a purpose, i mean, people should do what makes them happy. and if modifying their cars exterior and interior makes them happy and keeps them from doing things wrong they could be doing, let them do it you know?
i know it's all a big opinionative thing here. but it sort of goes both ways i think. anyways, good points. i agree with you in some of them.

LIke you said, it all boils down to personal preference. My modding motto is, "If you like it, rock it"
For me rice is anything stupid. Like GIANT wings, Excessive neons, Stupid body kits, excessive stickers etc. Some people will call my car rice but IMO its pretty sleek and not retarded look but just now am I looking to do stuff to the engine. I feel I want something nice to ride around in and if I do stuff to the engine im just going to speed and get tickets. Now however I am doing some engine mods but for me a sleek looking car was more of a number 1 and now the engine stuff comes up.

well i agree with jeff and forty.
i do agree some mods ive seen are retarded. but whatever you know. all civic drivers should unite no matter if one guy is into exterior and one guy is a motor head. i think it's great what everyone is doing with their cars.
keep it up.

Disclaimer: I'm not tryin to start anything, I just use hard facts to show my reasoning.
Forty, you said "why not spend it on something thats going to serve a purpose", well let me give you an example.
Let's use the famous "forty shine". Why do you spend time and money to shine your car so much? Does it improve performance? Some people may argue and say a shiney car doesn't have as much wind resistance, therefore, it will go faster. But we all know the benefits are very negligible.
You shine your car mostly because it makes you feel good, and you take pride in your belongings. And that's okay, nothing wrong with that. I do the same thing. You see, we are all different in some way, and different people like different things. So let's all try to understand that everyone is entitled to modding their car in their own special way.
ngo, I have a whole message dedicated to "its cool to do your own thing."
Plus, theres a slight difference between the 30 dollars worth of car care products I used in the last year, and a body kit/wing combo thats going to cost thousands of dollars to have mounted, painted, etc..
