Armrest Reupholstered?
I have already reupholstered the center armrest. Now I am trying to figure out how I am going to do the doors. I looked on the back of the door panel and the armrest part is melted on. Kinda like spot weld. I know that I can cut it off and epoxy it back on when I am done, but is there a better way? The grey fabric is what I am recovering.

The darker grey on the armrest is the fabric I am using.

Any help would be great.

I am not completely sure what your armrest looks like but it looks a whole lot like mine. I am actually doing this myself right now. It is so damn hard for me for some reason maybe its just the fabric I chose but if you have the smaller armrest with the little bends in it and everything its hard to keep the wrinkles out. Maybe it is cause I am using vinyl though.
For the little black things on the back all I did was take my drill with a bit about the size of the hole that is in the plastic let it go with soft pressure and it would spin the plastic right off not doing any damage to anything. If I wanted to I could grab some short screws with a washer and screw right back into the plastic pegs with how I did it.
As for doing it yourself I hope you are more patient then me or know what your doing. If you are able to get it w/o wrinkles please tell me how. I am considering just going and brabbing some black fabric cloth instead of vinyl.

If you are using vinyl, just use your hair dryer or a heat gun((ON LOW)) to warrm up the fabric and then glue it down with spray adhesive. I did that when I covered my amp rack with vinyl. It worked great. Just go slow and dont overheat the vinyl. The heat will let it bend more and you dont get as many wrinkles.
Thanks for the input.

omg......that is a good idea lol. I think I have a heat gun I will try that on.....saturday seeing that I have no time before that. I wonder if the heat gun with melt the plastic armrest while I am doing it lol. Oh well I will tell yall how it goes and post some pics hopefully.
No it wont melt the armrest. you are not going to get it that hot. Only heat it up enough to soften it. Around 150 degrees or so.((mabey less, I am going from five year old memory here)) Good luck, and BE CAREFUL. LOL
