haha I can't quite make sense of either of those last two posts...

detailing turned out real nice, car looks awesome. I doubt the interior/exterior would show much difference in photos, but the engine bay looks a TON better as well, I will post some pics of the now clean engine bay tomorrow.

getting my tints on weds [8D] , and 95exrv tells me my HIDs should (hopefully) be here by Friday

also SRI shipped, should be here tomorrow. Oughta look great in my nice clean engine bay. Too bad about the stock airbox, it's super clean now, only to be ripped out and tossed in storage

Post some pics when you're done. Lots to do this week huh? Pretty cool. Nice ride.

I know you guys probably think I'm stupid getting excited about something as easy as an SRI but hey, we all have to start somewhere right? Anywhere here we go. Thanks to everyone who tried to help me out in my other thread. I think the general advice of "it's easy, just suck it up and go do it" was probably right on the money, because the whole thing really wasn't as complicated as AEM instructions make it sound like [:@]

Here's an after pic, shot at the same angle. Yeah I know the engine is still kinda... well... not that clean [&:] The detailers did their best. The rest of the bay looks a LOT better than before, which might not show up as much in this pic since the stock airbox is gone.

Also a question. In the closeup pic... the part I've circled in red. The part of that pipe that is very black is that way because that's how far into the stock air tube it went. It's stuck into the AEM tube much more shallow, and although I don't think it's dangerously close, it still makes me nervous. What can I do to secure it in place a little deeper?

five minute test drive impressions:

I read a lot of reviews of this intake before I bought and installed it, so here's my take on it:

1) sucking noise: reported by many. True. I guess this is common to all intakes.

2) WHISTLE/WHINE: some reviews I read say it makes this noise around 2500-3500 RPM or thereabouts. I notice it and it's somewhat loud but brief. Also seems to occur under hard acceleration. Is there some REASON why it might be doing this? Anything I should be concerned about? Come to think of it, it might JUST be under moderate to hard acceleration. Not sure if the RPM range really has anything to do with it.

3) GROWL: Yeah definitely much more noticeable and pronounced engine and exhaust growl now. Sounds nice. I just hope I don't draw TOO much attention

4) POWER: Well of course, placebo effect. Yeah just zipping around the parking lot it did FEEL like it was pulling stronger and a little jumpier, but maybe it's just my imagination (or my wish ) Anyway we'll see how I feel about it after a week or two around town.

Got my tints today. 35/50, state legal. Looks good, but they say I shouldn't roll my windows down for 3 days. They also said it might look like it's bubbling in some parts but after 3 days and some sun exposure it should be fine. If not they said bring it back. It's got a lifetime warranty, so that's fine by me.

will post pics later this afternoon.

That's what they said when they did mine. I had to wait two days before opening. It was like 90 degrees outside. Thank God for the AC.

OK couple of questions.

1) Where can I buy new valve covers, how much do they usually cost, and how difficult is it to install them? There's a guy selling custom-painted valve covers on ebay, but I'm pretty sure he sells the painted ones and has the buyer send him their old one so that he can paint that one and sell it, etc. etc. I'm not really keen on buying somebody else's used valve cover, painted or not.

2) Will new headers do any good without a new exhaust? Also I'm a n00b remember... sue me for asking, but what difference is there (other than physical appearance) between 4-2-1, 4-1, one-piece, two-piece, etc.?

3) What good do new spark wires do other than looking pretty? Where can I buy some, what are some good brands, and what do they cost? I assume new spark plugs to go with them would probably be a good idea. Recommendations there?
