Calling all red 8th Gen owners!!
hey guys, i seem to be having some trouble with the paint on my 2.5 week old redhead. its an 07' EX and the paint seems to be chipping very easily, like instead of a pebble hitting it and deflecting of causing a scratch, its taking the paint completly off down to the body. i was wondering if this was typical of honda, or red cars or what. I mean until this ive had 2 other cars (00 z28 camaro and 97' tbird) both of which have never ever had this problem even with a lot of highway driving. Also if you look underneath at the chassis the paint work looks rediculously horrible done. Like they just sprayed in below the doors on the chassis and let it drip dry. I have this really cool ice-cicle effect going on underneath..
anyways im a little dissapointed my car is so new and has three chips, you think the dealer will take care of me if i call? is this a defect? no clear coat? wat?
thx,
CN

I have never heard of a warranty that covers rock chips... honda simply doesnt put a good undercoat on their cars... my brother has had a passat for years and it has little chips, but nothing compared to my civic with only 3 years.... my paint job is horrible and the dealer refuses to cover it... good luck and let us know what happens
You really luck out when you know the dealer! If anything he'll just give you a discount on filling the cracks, but it wont ever look exactly perfect, especially on red! You gotta take some pictures up close so we can see what you're looking at... the only thing dealerships cover is if it is clear the car is rusting from the inside out... but that is REALLY hard to prove if there are any cracks or chips near the factory faults...
kk thanks guys... im at work right now, but ill post some pics soon. (yes thats right im at work on the net and gettin' PAID) lol i work at fitness resource selling gym quality fitness equipment, so its lax
honda paint in general is pretty thin. you have to buy the higher-end acuras to see any real difference in paint quality and luster and even those paint jobs aren't as lustrous as other luxury brands.
my integra has some of the thinnest paint i've ever seen on a car.
subarus have notoriously thin paint as well.

ya this shucks, i bought my redhead bc i thought it would look sexy with black 18s w/ polished lip and some tint. but its gonnna look like its been hit with bbs in the next month lol... oh well you win some you lose some i guess... i can always get an aftermarket paint job later on after im finished with the project... a better quality one at that.
thanks
