It is legal to modify a cluster's mileage ONLY if it is to done to match the vehicle that it is being installed into.

True, it's not enforced at all. And cop? no, but it's just the principle of it...

lol all i did was say it was illegal in some states. it will be inforced as soon as you goto sell the car and they see that your selling a car with less miles then what you bought it with..

You are extremely confused.

He bought a new cluster and he wanted to know how to adjust the new cluster's odometer so that it would match his REAL mileage. He's doing the right thing by wanting to make the odometer reflect the mileage on his car and not the car it came off of.

no i know what he wanted to do, but i thought tampering with it was illegal period. when i read online about how to correct your milage after cluster swap, it told me that its illegal and you have to mark what your origonal milage is before the swap and keep track. i was just throwing in my 2cents from what i read. i can care less in the legality of things lol.

Then what was this suppose to mean?

it will be inforced as soon as you goto sell the car and they see that your selling a car with less miles then what you bought it with..

P.S. you mean "couldn't care less"
