Default Door trim/weather stripping

Wondering if its ok to take the trim off from the outside of the door in the picture below it looks pretty ugly. Just dont want to do it and then have problems with the door not being weather tight anymore.
Thanks!

Hard to tell from the picture, but I'm assuming it's door edge guard?

If so, no issues if you remove it. Just remove it correctly; Link.
