Default fender rust

I own a 91 crx and like everyone else i have rust on the rear fender. i was wondering if i could get some suggestions on a relatively inexpensive way to fix this spot. it is about 1.5 inches wide and 3 inches long. thanks.

The only way to get rid of that cancer is to cut it out (don't just cover it over). Then you can either weld in some new metal, or add some fiberglass mesh to fill in that spot.

Add in some grinding, body fill, sanding, primer, sanding, glazing, sanding, primer, sanding, painting, sanding, clear coat (a few coats), you'll be as good as new.

crxs are hot cars, but i hate the fact that they all get that rust! my boyfriend's got a project crx, and he bought it from a guy in florida, so there is some serious rust eating away at the fenders.

what ngoti8tor says sounds like a good plan. the only thing is, rust is a b**ch to remove completely. just when you think you've got it all removed, more shows up. i would be tempted if i were you to sand down the whole area of the fender to check for more rust as teh first step. good luck with it, and put up some pics as you go!
