Default Gauge Cluster Swap

I have a 1999 Honda Civic DX. I would like to swap out the gauge cluster for one with a tachometer. I was wondering what year / model gauge cluster will be easiest and look the best for this swap?
Thankyou!

The easiest and cheapest would be an LX/EX cluster from an 96-00 Civic. However, if you are car is manual, the LX (and some of the EX's) will have the gears listed between the gas gauge and the temp gauge. If you're not worried about that, then the automatic clusters or manual clusters will work for you.

If you want to add little more style, check out the 99-00 SI cluster.

If you want to be "m4d tite jdm yo!", then check out the 96-00 Civic Type R (CTR) cluster.

forking out $325.00 not including shipping for the CTR cluster is a little overboard for my taste.

I also swapped for a gauge cluster with a tach, I found one on craigslist.com for $80 i got lucky though. My advise is to look on ebay and craigslist you should be able to find one for about $100 - $150 and the installation is easy all the models are wired the same so the new cluster will plug right in.

You spent $80 on a stock EX cluster? That seems a little high. I wouldn't pay more than $60 for something like this:

Here's the SI cluster:

The CTR:

And the almighty baller status Spoon cluster:

You go and get a CR-V cluster, but they aren't any different than stock, just different colors:

You could also get the SiR cluster, too:

Here's the Ek4 cluster:

I'm not too sure what else you could direct swap into your car OP. Anything else that I can think of would require some customizing/modifying. Sorry about the numerous pics.

I like the AP2 better if I had to choose a digital cluster. OP, if you decide to do this, good luck. Everything that has to do with installation of a s2k cluster into a Civic is 100% custom. Nothing will be plug an play.

I actually enjoy seeing that little needle in the speedometer flying around, instead of a digital number flickering and changing every 1/2 sec.

but its completely baller status! haha, idk i always did like digital. plus since its completely custom, its not a "common" mod that you see everyday. people will drool! haha j/k but it does look good if you make the bezel to "fit in" sorta.

^^ How is the AP1/2 cluster more baller status? Just b/c it lights up? Sounds ricer-ish

The baller-ist cluster is the spoon cluster. Have fun trying to find one cheaper than $1000.

well if you do go with the simple EX cluster swap/upgrade with the tach. remember you can reuse your stock speedometer section to keep your milage true! you simply unsnap the cluster, take the 4small screws out the back and the speedometer section comes out the front as one piece and into your EX cluster.
