I'm doing the 99-00 conversion to my 97 coupe. I want a "clean" grille to go with it without the "H". I know that both the 99-00 civic ex and civic si grilles have the "H" in the middle. But I think, but am not sure that there is a little difference in them. It looks like the regular 99-00 ex grilles have the H with a crossbar behind them, while the 99-00 SI grilles have the H with a mesh look behind them. Is there a difference in the grilles? Or have I just totally thought this up? If i'm right I think that taking the H out of the SI grille will be alot simplier and look alot cleaner. If the grilles are different let me know so I can get intouch with honda and get me one on the way. I think I can get the grille and trim for alittle over $100. Alot cheaper than ordering a real CTR grille. Thanks.

 

you can get a aftermarkit grill without the H for like $30 if theres a local shop that sells that stuff around you, or e-bay for cheaper

 

Yea I know that you can do that but...those parts for the most part are cheaply made and don't have a good fit.... and I like to keep mine original Honda parts.

 

i think on the ex's you have to cut out the h if you want it removed. i know on the si's if you want it out, all you have to do is unscrew a few screws. im thinking about taking mine out.

 

Yea I just got off the phone with a parts guy from honda... the Si grille does have the mesh and the H is easily removed...i've got mine ordered

 

post some pics with it up, i want to see how it looks because i need to change my grill too
