Has anyone painted headlights?

RE: Has anyone painted headlights?
There are two metal clips on top and two on the bottom that hold the lense (clear part) to the bezel (inside part) ALONG WITH a very tough adhesive. Keep the clips because when you go to re-seal the headlights, they help hold the lense on until the new adhesive hardens.
Step 1: remove headlight from car.
Step 2: remove bulbs from headlights
Step 3: remove metal clips
Step 4: remove adhesive
To get the adhesive off, either bake the headlights (I don't know how to do this and haven't done it, so search for it) or get a box cutter and cut the adhesive off. DON'T CUT YOURSELF!!!. Once the lense is independent of the bezel...
Step 5: prep the bezel
Get some sand paper and sand the bezel (the parts that you can see through the lense normally). I suggest starting at say 600-800 grit and work your way up to 1000+ grit. Be gentle, otherwise you'll leave grooves. Remove dust from sanding
Step 6: Get some paint and paint them.
I suggest spray paint. I used Rustoleum Gloss Black. You can use a primer and/or a clear coat, but I figured once it's re-sealed the paint won't get much air flow. Also if you haven't used spray paint before, ask me for spray tips.
Step 7: Re-seal the headlight assembly
I used ATV sealant, which is found in the automotive section of most stores, that or at an auto store where the whole store is the auto dept.
Step 8: Install Headlight and bulbs. DON'T FORGET TO PROPERLY AIM THE LIGHT BEAMS!! (or don't but they'll be all ****-eyed)
Step 9: Smile and change your shorts.

RE: Has anyone painted headlights?
hey i think what your asking about making your stock EK headlights assemblys look like the type R ones right? all i kno is you put the head lights in an oven so the seals come apart and you paint it and then seal them back up. these look sick check my profile on here i have them on my car and they look amazing. i bought mine from a friend but you can paint the amber reflectors too for that one-off custom look.mine have that burnt orange color to them and another thing you can do is the little shroud that covers the bulb you can take that off and the lights are bright as ****
