Your call, man. That looks like too good of a deal to me... my HID kit alone was more than that package... personally I wouldnt do it, but that is because the HID kit has no other name than just generic "HID KIT"... that spells "DANGER" to me.

Not true, there are more than a few people who have them w/o projectors on this forum. You do sometimes get glare problems, but they do work. I'd reccomend projectors, but its not required. On most projectors it tells you to NOT use HID, but both myself and TheMoogly are rocking the HID/ Projector setup...highly reccomended!

Is there a brand/type of projector that works better with HID's?

I mean most of these BMW's and etc.. that rock HID bulbs seem to be projectors, but alot of these ebay projector lights are made of cheaper plastics, that I assume can't stand the heat and power requirements of the HID bulbs.

Could one purchase a higher priced projector setup made of more solid metal parts that would accept the HID bulbs with ease?

Mine say not to install HID's also, but I love the look, I want some myself.

Well HID's actually run cooler than halogen, especially bulbs like Silverstars. In terms of power, all power is provided from the ballast (Transfomer) for the bulbs. The ballast is the reason you have to buy an HID "kit" You can just take the wire that powered the original bulbs and connect them to the ballast. From there, it'll take care of the rest.

It seems that projectors say to not use HID because of how bright they are. It is important to have the beam aimed properly so you're not REALLY blinding people. It is a much more focused beam, so that's the main concern.

Let me know if you've got any more questions...I know when I decided to go for this setup, it was very confusing.

hid without projector? man thats gonna be a bad *** glare......
i have seen it myself...and the glare is really bad, seriously wouldnt recommend hid on oem

atleast u r using projectors...n i knw they r not meant to be used with HID....
but its not that bad as using oem headlight....

n with that said....u also dont get the maximum light output with that kinda setup......

if someone really wants that crazy hid look....do the retrofit, it looks better and the light output is awesome

NOT TRUE!!!!!!!!!!
i dont know why jus tabout everyone says THIERS HORIBLE GLARE............ HOW DO YOU KNOW?????

let me know......

EVERY CAR IS DIFFERENT as well.... my dads 96jimmy i put HIDs in ya it did have a medium glare on them.... but come on ITS A 4X4 truck and since its headlights are higher it naturaly is more blinding!

i got some 6Ks in my OEM headlights... and they look sweet! cut off point is still preaty nice!

glare... nope not realy!
ive NEVER HAD ANYONE FLASH ME AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and ive had em for quite some time now and i drive to work in the dark every morning with them ON!
so to any one that just says projectors are the only way to go i say YOUR WRONG!!!!!!!!

and my HIDs pluged right into the stock harness.... when the fire up thats when they use the most power just to give that initial FIRE to spark em up!
but after they are fired up they dont use as much power

NOW anyways with that HID ebay listing.... i wouldnt....... cause ya they might look good for alittle while BUT the first thing that burns out is the ignitors! cause they are cheap crapy quality!
anything under 200bucks for just the hids cannt be quality!

but if you want that TRUE KILLER HID look then your forced to just do a retro fit with some COMPLETE OEM HIDS.... but thats quite a bit of work! and definatly isnt cheap!!!! expect to at least pay ruffly 500bucks and you still have to take your headlight housing and cut away at it... and then cut away at the OEM hids headlight housing and then mounting in the HID aiming/displacement mechanisms... cause without it youll NEVER get that killer cut off line with the sweet color change as well!!!!

id like to try eventualy BUT just to many other things i want to do first.....
problem with doing it that way is if ya mess up and cut your lights to large of an opening they are trash

and then another dificult thing is the deepness of the OEM HIDs housings.....
but in short..... not that easy at all to do! but beats the crap outta projectors!!
projectors just arent wide viewing anglefor me! hell i live out where deer are.LMFAO i need that side light

EDIT.... forgot to say as well... after ya do the HIDs you do need to play with the aiming alittle.... otherwise you will have that glare problem more evident which is probably why some people think its so bad.
