Default HID XENON Bulbs

I'm sure this has been asked before.

Can I just buy HID XENON bulbs and throw 'em in my stock headlight, or do I need to buy a conversion kit??

Thanks guys.

An HID usually comes with the whole conversion kit. You don't need new headlights, its basically a bulb that hooks up to its own brain and some are plug and play, some go straight to the battery.

Yeah, HID bulbs need about 25,000 volts to operate so you need a ballast and I think what they call a starter.

Yeah, unless you are driving an Audi or a BMW you cant plug in Xenon bulbs... the conversion kit is not only real HID Xenon bulbs but it comes with a ballast-a little black box-for each bulb. You need the ballast (the reason they cost so much) because it sends a butt load of power to start the gas in the bulb... afterwards it uses less power. You can get xenon-esq bulbs by Nokya for 20 bucks or you can get the real deal that are like 10x better for 200 or so...

If you are talking about the "HID Xenons" on ebay, yeah you can put those in the stock headlight, alot of ebay stores just write "HID" to make it sound better. Send the link of what you were looking at, that'll help out.
