Default Honda emblem mod

I wanted to change the color of the background of the H on the trunk. Instead of buying the new emblem, I'd rather just do it myself. I know i could just custom fit a few pieces of colored plastic behind it, but i was wondering about peoples experiences on taking the H off and what is underneath it and if it'd be hard to get back on and whatever.

Thoughts?

Just get under it with a credit card or the like and pull. Get all the two sided tape off and put new tape on when you stick it back on.

i think the H has two holes undernaeth it.I could be wrong, hopefully soembody will correct me. The "civic" and the "ex" (for example) are just glued on there. I think leaving the H looks sick, and you could probably paint it/clear coat it whatever color you want and you'll be set.

I drive a 01 silver EX..The whole car is done with a black/silver theme (blacked out headlights, tints, planning to black out taillights)

So, i wanted to either paint the emblem black..or leave it silver and put a black insert behind it

here is a pic of what it will look like with the black insert behind it, which is my preference
(i photoshopped some smoked taillights just to see how it would look next to the emblem)

i figure if i go that route and just paint the H black..i would have to paint the other badges black too or else the tail would look unfinished, in my opinion..

here's a rough sketch of it that i threw together just to get an idea of how it'll look

The first image of the background bring painted black makes it look like a EG civic. I kind of like the look. I would suggest using vinyl to do it. Just pop off the emblem, clean the area, lay the vinyl piece, and remount the emblem. Sweet!

interesting choice with the vinyl..that's definetely an option ill consider

the other possibility was to use that clear plastic teachers use on overhead projectors..depending on how well it accepted black paint, that could work too and would be easier to get

i found an actual s2000 emblem that has the black background with silver H..30-40 bucks off ebay..**** that noise..ill do it myself
