Default Hood Problem

Alright sO i just recently got my front bumper painted, and it came out pretty good, but my hood is ridiculous. From a distance, and at dusk it looks REAL good cleaned, but once you walk up close to it there are thousands of little "spider/stress cracks" in the paint. Its a 99 and these cracks are only on the front portion of the hood.

Im debating on whether or not to go Carbon fiber or have my hood repainted. Any idea how much a repainted hood would cost? And im not sure if my a carbon hood would look good on a green civic. Im getting gunmetal wheels and im keeping my Si lip black along with my sideskirts, mirrors etc... what do you guys think?

go CF? or get it repainted?

here is my car prior to getting the bumper painted, you cant see the stress cracks that much in this pic, ill take a pic tomorrow with my digital camera

i was looking for a CF hood on a green civic, but i dont no were it went..but it does look good i think. If you have about $700+ to spend, go for the CF. Not to sure how much it would cost to get the hood painted.

yah im not sure if i really feel like spending 700 on a hood right now....if you can find that pic, and it looks good that might just sway me to go cf, but the only time I have seen a cf hood on a civic i actually liked was on the highway today a red ek hatch with a black mugen lip, black projector headlights and a carbon hood...really went well together.

I think i can get it repainted for like 350-400 for a decent job. I might just do that. Thanks for the help, either way ill post pics tomorrow showing these damn stress cracks....they are pissing me off to no end!! lol

i've got a similar problem on my 98, only in silver...

i've also found that with all the highway and winter driving i used to do, the front bumper, leading edge of my hood and even my windshield look like they've been sand blasted....

i figure eventually im going to get my car stripped to metal and repainted silver..... at the same time probably replace hood/trunk/fenders with carbon all around and get it painted to match

Carbon fiber will look good on green. + 1 for it. Concerning your hood, a lot of Honda owners have complained about checking or crazing (micro-checking) it has been determined it is actually a paint defect from the manufacuturer. SRT, the paint problem you're describing... does it resemble any of these?
