You can wind it by hand but it takes forever. Odometers held together not with screws but with melted plastic so that it is evident when it is tampered with.

hey !

I have a 97 DX, 5 speed. No tach.

I got an instrument cluster from a 96 EX with tach but it does not look like the connections are the same.

Does anyone know if it is possible to put a 96 EX cluster into a 97 DX ?

I have read in other posts that it is direct swap.

thanks !

it should be direct plug and play.. post pics of the connections on each cluster, then it would be easier to say. also, im not sure if the 6th gen EX has ABS, but if it does, that ABS light will stay on, and thats annoying as shyt!

I figured it out. I had a 95 insturment cluster, thought it was a 96. Explains why it would not hook up. Now I am on the lookout for a 96-00 cluster. Local salvage yard near me wants 150.00 and I pull it. I am going to keep looking. 150 seems high.
btw, I sold the 95 cluster already. so no loss.

changing the odometer isnt that hard. Dont get me wrong i still havent done it on my car. But i did take apart my old cluster to practice and it worked fine. Just take a couple screws out here and there, once you can get to the digits, they will spin somewhat easily.

That sounds vague, but no worries, its easy.

edit: I got my new cluster on ebay for around 50 bucks shipped. as long as you dont want an SI cluster is should be cheap. SI's go for a lot.
