lips?
I'd say get a mugen or a type-r lip if you want something really subtle. If you want something a little more aggressive, you could get a jun-style lip. Flip (FlipHKD720) has a jun lip if you want to see what it looks like.
There are generally two recommended sites for lip kits: http://www.streetstyler.com/and http://www.hmotorsports.com/. They both have (about) the same prices (around $80 for a front lip, $90 or so for a rear), but I've heard StreetStyler's shipping times are horrible (1 month+ ).

The type R for 98s is a little bit too, exotic for me. I like the mugen though. Do these just go over the bottom of the bumpers or do they actually lower the clearence? If so about how much?
yo the type r lip or mugen lip will be perfect on your car i have a type r on my 98 coup and im love it. personally the mugen lip is to boxy for me it just doesnt flow right with the car. but for the rear no question get the type r rear lip. dont go getting some crazy *** bumper or ull turn ur car into a space ship. these lips just crew right on to ur bumers there easy to install.
i like my Jun, its VERY aggressive though, the Mugen actaully has air dams in it to send air towrads your brakes and cool them down better (little fun fact), so thats a selling point too. Personally i think its too boxy as well thouhg, i like the Type-R ALOT, although the Jun is my favorite
Personally, if it's between the Type-R and Mugen front lips, I say Mugen (though I may be a little biased seeing as how I have a mugen style lip
). Like Flip said, the vents on each side of the lip direct airflow towards the brakes to cool them; a nice little feature on the track (though it won't make much of a difference on the streets). Another thing I like about them is that they match the curve of your bumper perfectly.
EDIT: Oh, and I just went out and measured it on my EG... The mugen lip lowers the ground clearance about 1 1/8" on the sides and 1 5/8" in the middle.
