Default RE: MAKE A DIY OF THIS PLEASE!!

I talked to a guy today that makes custom fiberglass boxes, and does interior work. He works at my local audio store. He told me that a scuff pad is the best way to get that surface ready to paint, just lightly rough it up, but not too deep or you will have to supre coat it to fill the scratches. Clean with amonia, and alcohol, and let it dry. You gotta get a toothbrush for some things to get them completely clean.

I also was told that primer blows on plastics and vinyl, as it is not designed to bond well to those parts. Not as well as the paint alone, like Fusion, which I haven't tried yet, or the dupli-color vinyl, which I am about to try.

Just clean, lightly sand, paint, and let it sit, at least a day or so before installing parts that are going to get touched alot, like the door handles. Just open the window and open the door from the outside for a day or two, lol.

The temp and humidity make a lot of diffrence too for the cure, so wait for a warm day when its sunny and not moist, kinda dry. As long as you paint it on that day and let it set that night, it could rain the next day and still be a good cure, from what i read.

why did you bump up a thread that is like 8 months old? I can see you are helping but I am sure this guy has solved his problem by now.
