As you can see it isn't too bad. What can I do to get rid of it? I'm planning on taking the car to Maaco or a local paint shop sometime soon, would it be costly to have them sand it out?

 

honestly that is worse then you think... you will probably have to cut out the metal and weld in a new piece

 

How so? There isn't one part of the metal that has been eaten through yet. It is all surface rust.

I think the previous owner tried to put bondo or something ontop of it cause it looks cracked a little bit
