So, this is my first car. I got it for free (we had to pick it up. About 8 hour drive one way.) and im wondering if its worth fixing, or just keep it as a parts car. I am only 15, and am trying to buy a brand new motorcycle in the spring, so it's going to sit for a while. Tell me what you think! [Hasn't been cleaned/dusted! Nothing has been fixed or modified! Its right off the trailer!]

Wheels 16 inch w/ acura centers. Would it be too ricey with acura wheels?

Cracked bumper w/ a euro plate! Who puts a euro plate on a civic?!



Parts of the dash, speaker covers and vents were spray bombed red.

Rust is same on drivers side. Front wheel wells are clean. Hood has some surface rust and needs replaced anyway. Other than that the car is virtually rust free.

i would say fix her up. do you know what needs to be fixed or why it's not running? i think you should figure it out first and also, patch up the rust, and get some new body parts and it will be good as new.

It runs! I drove it on our rural roads last night. Just threw in some plugs while charging the battery and flashed her. Took a bit to get her started, but its sat for over a year with old fuel. Needs a total new exhaust system. Jacked her up myself and took a boo, and its rusted right out right up to the condenser. Muffler and tip were gone as well. Anybody know any good canadian aftermarket sites?

You can definitely fix it up for cheaper than you would think. And if it runs, hey! Cheap fuel efficient transportation. It's already paid off (cheap as free, eh?), so who cares how it looks?

If you fix the Honda Cancer in the wheel wells, put that front bumper on, snag a new hood from a salvage yard or eBay, pop a few dents out, maybe grab some incidental small parts and exhaust from a salvage yard, then that'll be a great car. Interior painting like that is pretty common, but those pieces come off easily. You could carefully remove the paint yourself or repaint them black. Or, once you clean it all off, you might end up liking it because it's close to the body color. Either way, you could probably sell it for enough to buy a bike if you wanted.

What's the mileage like on that thing?

 

I like it. I say keep it. Like everyone else is saying fix her up and you'll be happy to call it your own.

 

Definitely worth keeping. With you being only 15 you should have oodles of time to put some effort into it (assuming you like working on cars anyway). I'm actually jealous you got her for free. Trust me, in the end you'll appreciate that car more than most things you own simply because of the hard work you put into it.

 

Keep it! Will make a great project car. Just fix it up with oem parts.
