i have a 98 ex and my remote has an option button on it but it is not programmed can i get a remote start system installed or a remote trunk release using the same remote control?

Is it an aftermarket setup? If it is then it should definately work on just about anything you want it to...

remote start, trunk pop, controlling neons, auto windows up/down, siren... the choices are endless.
