painting valve cover
I read the post in the DIY section, but i have a couple questions first... if i take off my valve cover (on the D15B7), would it screw up anything? (like timing?) would i have to reset anything? and how hard would it be to take off and put back on? and since its the D15B7, is it an aluminum valve cover?
i didnt have to get a new valve gasket when i did mine. and since i am under 18 im not supposed to be able to buy spray paint. but the cashier just asked what i was gonna do with high heat paint. i told him i was gonna paint my valve cover and some other little brackets and stuff. so he gave it to me then showed me his awesome subaru! it was super clean. just make sure you keep all the screws and stuff. and i used some brake cleaner to clean off my valve cover. it needs to be super clean for it to come out nice

also when you tighten the screws, make sure you use a torque wrench and torque them to the right specifications

YES!!!! You will break the v/c bolts if you tighten them too far. I actually tightened mine just at spec and one broke (old bolt).[:@] Torque it or you'll be kicking yourself.
Oh, and one bolt was 9 bucks at the Honda stealership.
I would also suggest to get a new gasket, just follow the manual.

true.uh, so today i was shopping for paint... and i asked the guy behind the counter of partsourcewhat paint i should buy... he asked me what temperature painti needed.. i couldnt give him an answer... what sort of temp rating does my engine paint need to be? the choices are 500 degreemotor paint, 900 degreebrake caliper paint, or 1500 degree paint. the thing is... theres only black and dull silver colours in the 1500 degree paint.. the caliper paint has more decent choices, but the colour I want is in the 500 degree paint... this is why im curious, lol so what temperature paint should i get?
