Plug and playability of tach
I'd hate to make a continuation of my old thread (though this does go in a different direction) but I need to know if it will work or not soon and I was worried that no one would look at an old thread. So, here's the deal - I need a tach in my 98 DX and I was going to take a EX/Si tach and I have two questions - What years will fit my civic (96-98 or all of 6th generation) and will it truly be plug and play? Since the OEM wiring wasn't meant for a tach, I can't imagine Honda making the plug in available for a tach as well even though the car's gauges didn't include it. So if it isn't truly plug and play, what do I need to make the tach in the new gauge cluster work? Thanks for th help guys, I love the forums
Ya man, all the wiring is there. You just unplug your old one and plug in your new one. When I went to get my cluster from the guy, I just unplugedmine and plug his in to make sure it worked and everything. You dont need to re-wire anything. I drive a 2000dx and got a si (U.S ex) cluster.
if you wanna wire a tach in on its own (with your cluster you have now), the tach signal wire is the one behind your engine temp gauge thats blue w/ a silver line on it.
That's really awesome
I hate the big *** tach's mounted up on your dash, not only is it ugly but I don't want to drill holes in my Roxanne
So, good to know before I go out and buy one. Thanks for the help guys

Heh no way. I got a 98 civic DX - Red. Roxanne has been my favourite song since I was about 5, and I have a thing for red heads, so Roxanne just seemed fitting
What about you?
