hey ppl i am getting a metallic black paint job for my 92 civic sedan, my oem color is currently dark blue. i wanted to know what to look for in a paint job casue i am not to familiar with paint. the guy i am getting the paint job from is offering me 2-3 clear coats and 3-4 base coats. i was told this is good. but i am not sure about primer, what is the primer exactly???? and how many coats of it should i get????

 

primer is what makes the paint sick to your car, it depends on the painter how they prime for the paint, different paint needs different primers...the guy whos painting this should no all this stuff

Primer also helps you see the small imperfections in the body before you paint.Is the paint base coat,clear coat or enamel paint.If it is base coat you are also going to have to clear coat.
