Leather or vinyl will do and make sure use a paper template before you use your actual material. After you finish cutting use contact cement to install. Check my post before about reupholstery.. below link

paper templet....? i just pulled the old fabric off and used it as a templet and just cut the new fabric about a inch or 2 larger than that.

they carry actual automotive headliner material at jo-ann fabric just like the stock stuff with the thin layer of foam.

really? i went there and asked the little old lady about what i was doing...and she never brought up that product. Ill go again and ask her. thanks. i also plan on taking your advice on just using the actual material and cutting it like that.
