Hey i saw the guy's "98blakCivic"post with the black 98 civic w/ halosand someone replied that he should have got the real tail lights (look like 2000). I am a bit cheap and i was wondering if i would be able to take out the amber in my 1996 civic tail lights to make it look like the 2000's. Thanks!

There's always the possibility of putting red tint over the amber. Seen it done for Integra's, though no so much for Civics.

Would probably be easier just to buy. I broke down and bought a set, there is always at least 1 on ebay. Or you can get the replicas they make that look close to the red/white factory look. Going to all that trouble and ending up having it look bad will just make you mad.
