Way to create custom trunk light
suppose i could figure out how the trunk sensor works... if it sends a positive signal or no signal to trigger the dash light when the trunk is open and figure some electronics from there...
if you want the easiest way to wire it up i got it for ya...
first of all a FUSED power wire ran from the fuse box to the trunk...
of course typical wire conectors and electrical tape.... and maybe one self taping screw...
realy simply hood pin switch.... anyone thats instaled a few alarms probably has a spare one around
and either a small strip of metal... or if you can find a good place on the car where the trunk lid will close down onto pushen the pin down.
use the ground from the pin switch to activate the lights ground wire. and power wired to the light.
preaty simple! then just wire up your extra lights the same way and your golden
very simple to do!
now the pin switch is the cheapest way to go!!!!!!!
BUT thier are several options you can choice from!!!!!!!
thiers a mercery swich that will trigger when tilted. problem thier is i dont know how far it has to be tilted to turn on....
thiers some magnetic switches.
thiers a few other that i cannt remember at this time...
but you can always just do the most simplest and cheapest the hood pin is the easiest type....
or if ya got a spare car around that you can rip parts from you can just pull thier door pin switches... downfall with those is not sure how they wire.... or just buy another civic hood pin. those are the same type as hood pin switches... BUT not as adjustable... but does look alot beter.LOL
EDIT... forgot to say you realy dont need the relay... my bad....... just hook up the FUSED power wire directly to the light and then wire the ground to the pin switch to activate it....

ORIGINAL: hahagasdcrx's post from H-T
just added a trunk light to my 98 hatchback and took 2 pics of wires to tap into.
you must remove rear and drivers side panel to get to this plug located by the drivers side rear passenger seat. The positive wire ends at plug and does not extend past the rear seats on my dx and some other civics.... look for big grey plug that is the one in which you will tap into....
tap into white wire with red stripe for constant 12v source....

tap into blue wire with black stripe for trunk latch switch ( ground ) On grey plug..

sorry bout the blurry pics but hopefully will be useful for you all..
