Default What is the brightest headlight bulb?

Hey Gang---

I am thinking about replacing the stock headlight bulb in my 05 Civic EX SE but I have no idea what type I need and what is the brightest. I heard Silver Stars are but I wanted to get everyone's $0.02.

Thanks,
JP

You have to watch the laws, because I believe the maximum wattage you can legally use is 55Watts.

You know I was thinking about getting some of those Xeon super bright sunfire ultra mega silver star blue bulb things too but I think Sacicons or somebody said they got hassled because they were too blue or something? The other thing I was reading was that that rating they use isn't the wattage, it's the ability to penetrate darkness or something?? Like a stock bulb is like 2500 whatevers and the xeon ones are 6500? Did that make sense?

Anyway, I put some in my last car and I was less than impressed so I have been leery of putting them in the Civ. If you do though let us know how they work out.

And when you change your bulbs, DO NOT TOUCH THEM WITH YOUR FINGERS!
Use clean gloves or something, because the grease from your hands will cause them to blow.

Crap. Maybe that's why my last ones only lasted about a week. Good tip.

Thanks. A lot of people miss that and wonder why the bulbs keep blowing.

The number rating is called the kelvin scale. The higher the number, the closer it is to the color or brightness of the sun I guess. Obviously you would need like 500,000,000,000,000K to be close to the sun, but thats how they do it I guess?

Well what does everyone else use? If no one uses the Silver Stars I supposed I'll be a guiena pig and try them. Also, anyone know the bulb number off the top of their heads? Yes, I know its in the manual
