Default Whites on lights

Here is the problem the headlights on my car are white toned I guess for being on so long, you know the glass.I saw this thing on tv today about a thing you put on a drill and removes it from the outside. Is there a cheaper way to do this maybe a chemical or something someone knows about.I wanted to go one piece or even replace but I moled my kit to my car I know I am a dumb a'.So I want to some how take the white tint off my headlight.

I used 1000 grit sand paper on the headlights of my intrepid, didnt look too bad when I was done. I know they sell some stuff to use at autozone for it that my buddy got, but I dont remember what it was.
