Default will a guage cluster w/tach work in a 1998 honda civic?

hey everyone...
just have a quick question about a guage cluster with a tachometer...
i have 1998 honda civic cx h/b(lowest model in canada), right now my cluster only has the spedometer, gas, and temp gauges. I'm not a big fan of the extra ricey Tach that is mounted on the side of the dash...so i just wanted to know if i bought one of those OEM/JDM clusters with the tach, will the tach work and is it plug and play or do i still have to do some extra wiring in order for the tach to work?and will i be able to change the odometer to what mine is currently reading?
lastly how much should i be paying for the cluster with a tach.

THANKS!

Yes it will work 100% without any extra wiring, just plugs right in. And yes you can swap your odometer into the new cluster to keep your mileage the same. Not sure about how much 6th gen. clusters go for. Hope that helps.

+1 i agree it will just plug right up and if you you want your miles then take it apart and put your speedometer into the new one... i think they usually are about 30-45$ depending where you get it

Any 96-00 tach will be interchangeable and wont require running any new wires or anything. My 97 DX came with no tach. I purchased a new cluster that came off of an EX and it plugged right in. Only needed a screwdriver and it took 5 minutes. To my understanding you can swap the odometer over pretty easily. My car has a 12,000 mile/1yr warranty so im just racking up miles on the new cluster for a while so I can get my full year. Ebay has a lot of crap clusters and clusters from automatics that have the gears showing between the gas and temp for cheap but from what I found most standard clusters w/ tach were about $80-100 after shipping. I held out till someone parted out a civic and got mine for like half that so id suggest doing the same. Civic SI and Type R clusters look bad *** and have a higher redline but go for a few hundred on ebay.

It works, plug and play. Please search first next time, this has been answered like 50 times.
