My wife has an '01 Civic automatic. I was wondering if there is any lights bulbs within the gear shifter. I know it displays on the dash but I was just curious if there were any in the center console as well to indicate what gear is selected.

 

I would assume there's at least one bulb underneath the shifter cover to illuminate the gear indicators, but I'm not 100% sure. Your best bet would to call the nearest dealership and speak to the parts department. They'll be able to pull up an exploded parts diagram and tell you for sure if it has one or not.
