accord forum pretty stupid
So my friend has a 94 accord LX F22B2he thinks there is V-tec in his car because at 5 grand or so you can here it. People are saying on Honda Accord Forum that if the valve cover doesn't say v-tec then its not. but he said his rpms go up faster after five grand. I believe that the people on that forum are stupid. one person said that his engine doesn't have V-tec but when he hits 5 grand he can hear something and he thinks its a power boost. Here are their comments im not putting names.
1. VTEC in Accords was not put in them for performance, it was put in them for better gas mileage. You cannot feel it kick in at 5k because it doesn't kick in at 5k. It kicks in anywhere from 2200+ RPM depending on engine load, but almost always before 5k. if you have VTEC, the engine will say it in huge letters on the valve cover
2. yeah u dont have vtec cuz i have the same exact engine in my car and its not.... but ur right i too notice a kick when it reaches around that area and from what i believe thats where a boost in the power curve is so thats why it prolly feels like a vtec boost or something... hope it helps

RE: F22b2 accord engine
well your friend is wrong because the f22b2 is non vtec
F22B2 This engine was used in the 1994-1997 Honda Accord DX, LX and SE. The F22B6 in the 1995-1997 Honda Odyssey and the F22B8 in the Honda Shuttle are substantially similar. Specifications [ul][*]Bore × Stroke: 85.0 × 95.0 mm[*]Displacement: 2156 cc[*]Valve Configuration: SOHC, 16 valves[*]Compression ratio: 8.8:1[*]Max power: 130 hp (97 kW) @ 5300 rpm[*]Max torque: 139 ft·lbf (188 N m) @ 4200 rpm[/ul] The F22B in the BA9 Prelude had a DOHC configuratio
The B1 is vtec however
