I just bought a mid 70's sunfish in perfect condition for $100! It comes with a new fiberglass dagger board, fiber glass rudder, and a new sail. But the only thing is, its comesitically shot to ****. Ive been slaving over it all day. I have removed the hardware and sanded it down. Next step will be redoing holes and cutting out a 8" hole in the back for a hatch to store snacks, drinks *cough beer* and stuff like that. Im so stoked. Its my first sail boat.

Im going to do a white top with jet black bottom. And the traditional sunfish stripes but in black. Itll be pimpin. Ill post pics tomorrow.

If you got the will and slight know how with paint and fiberglass, you can do it yourself. Oh ****! Im over 3k posts. Ne way. Im going to do about 5 coats on that beast... it will sure enough make ole' Mossy proud.

 

Yeah my prob isnt the will or the know how, its the cash lol still in college right now but once I get out and settled into a job I'm gonna be looking for projects like that.

 

Well I wasnt planning on buying a sunfish ne way until my buddy siad I could have it for $100... couldnt turn that down since Ive always wanted on anyway.

 

i've got faith in ya buddy. damn nice find though. i love sailing, but i'd have nowhere to store it during the winter if i bought one. you're a lucky guy, enjoy it!

HA HA we have to sunfish's at our lake in South Dakota. There bad *** especially in strong winds. Have fun

 

Ill get some picd of it today. I figured out to use the orbital sander in a better way so progress is going alot quicker. I should have the top deck sanded down by today.

Im getting a racing sail thats coming with it. This should be interesting when done.
