This kid told me that the build quality on EVOs is really bad and that thier clutches suck and the bolts they use are really crappy. Is this true? I've always thought of the EVO as a really well built car.

From what I understand, a lot of people have had drivetrain problems, and clutches wearing out prematurely. I'll let LEVIII answer the rest...

and it's Evo, not EVO (it's not an ancronym )

I've also heard that the system that runs the evo power distribution iss suppose to be super high tech and really good.

High performances parts will wear out quickly, especially when abused. Isnt that why we buy them though? The clutches wear very quicly, as do the brakes, and the tires. Most people know this when buying and dont complain. They want Honda quality and reliability with sports car gas pedel. You just cant have both. A lot of the clutch is people not knowing how to drive either. My friend has about 40k on his stocker with over 60 drag launches and about 15 track day and it grabs like new. I have about 20 Drag launches on mine and prob 5k miles of twisty roads and it grabs like new. A local owner was on his 3rd clutch by 20k miles. I think he restes his foot while driving.

Im not quite as easy on tires or brakes though, 25k miles and 3rd set of tires and new brakes all around.

I dont belive it (the evo) is put together cheaply at all, when Sacs and I are underneith it, almost everytime we ar in aww of the quality and ingenuity that was put into it. The car is really a steal at 30k new and although I dont know if I would pay 43k for the one in the post, I bet you could talk him down to mid to high 30s and if you drive a 500AWHP car, I guarentee you would not be let down. Even for the 43k I highly doubt there is many a car that could hang with this one in much of anything

Say what you want about the build quality as I was very skeptical when I purchased. I have beat the crap out of mine at the track and the mountain roads and had nothing but oil changes and fuel stops.
