RE: best import to modify
im sticking with the supra. My boy has one and it sickens me to see the aftermarket support that beast gets

RE: best import to modify
I had a 95 240sx se manual. It was bitchin. It had a flowmaster exhaust. It used a timing chain too. Cool car. It sort of felt a little on the heavy side tho. I always thought it could use a V6.

RE: best import to modify
I know that 300zx handle very well, but I'd say that you should stick with M3 for autoX,
|
RE: best import to modify
Yeah, but owning an M3 will cost you body parts in the long run... one of my friends from high school dropped 17k on one his senior year, and since then (2 years) he's shelled out more than $3,000 to fix its problems. Later model BMW's are not notorious for their reliability. And the whole, "if you take care of it, it will take care of you" argument doesn't change the fact that the cars commit suicide.

I don't want to jack the thread, but I just want to say that BMWs straight 6 engines are well known for their longetivity. My car is a living proof at 225k miles

RE: best import to modify
I woukd rather not have a BMW, because a bimmer just isn't something that interests me. I am still leaning towrds a 300zx twin turbo. Considering I live in Indiana I imagine the major factor on what I buy will be what I can find in good shape. I have also ben thinking of a Mazda RX-7. I have never worked on a rotary engine, so it woud be a new experiance.
This car will be used to play around on the street. I may occasionally take it to the drag strip, but mostly use it as a street machine. |

ORIGINAL: jinsoku ae86 coupe with a levin front and 20valve turbo or 3sgte(if your crazy) full suspention and gutted interior..BORO! As for the original thread starter, I'd say that you should stay away form RX7 if you want to build a drag car. The parts are expensive and very hard to find. For your purpose, definately stick with RWD or AWD, hence the best bang for the buck would be the above mentioned toyota supra and 300zx |
RE: best import to modify
Buy a old or new 240sx hatchback, then buy a sr20det, then you got you rwd car, turbo, and probably could smoke most people in you town. look at spending a couple grand on your sr20 3 or 4 , then you got a skyline motor, dude my freind has this setup for his auto 89 sx hatch, its going to be sweet when were finished were striping the interior out and getting teh body shaved out primerd and cleaned up think of putin in a role cage.
