i say get the new $600 leica point and shoot digital camera.

it not only has superior optics but also records hi-def video -- all in a tiny sized camera body.

$600 for a point and shoot?

who the **** does that?

hahahahahaha

if you're going to go into that pricerange you might as well spend the extra $300 and get a Canon EOS 400D Digital Rebel XTi. and if you're seriously considering a Digital Rebel XT...just fork up the extra 50 bucks for the XTi.

well, it is a Leika after all. Personally, I'm not really a fan of these tiny cameras. I like something that i can hold firmly. My hands usually shake with small cameras.

In any case, Leika or not, I would stick with SLRs if you're serious about photography. I too want a nice camera, since I've always loved photography, but money is a big issue right now.

PS. thanks for the compliment, I3unny . However, those pics look pretty damn good in high -res.

For an amatuer that doesn't want to get in the higher hundreds for just the body (like the Canon's), seriouslly look at the Nikon D50 or D70. Lots of people say that they are comperable to the canon's but around $200-300 less.. One of those with a real nice lens will get you some great photos.
