My sister is looking to buy a car..she found this acura legend on craigslist..the cars body itself looks in good condition...but the engine has high mileage.. i called the guy and he said that he bought the car at an auction, and had a mechanic look at it. the mechanic said that you have to replace to valve seals( im thinking he ment the valve stem seals)..Is the car worth it? and if not what are some reasonable/quality cars. Looking to spend at most 3g's. thanks

 

The legends are notorious for eating trannys and burning oil. I had a 95 gs coupe for a while and it was nice. But I had to put a lot of work in to it. Like you say all new valve stem seals. Water pump and timing belt. (P.I.T.A) and the windows quit working. )drivers side master switch shorted out and melted) It's not a bad deal for the car and all the options they have but I'd try looking around at a civic. (not that i'm biased or anything) but I have 3 civics now and I have had 3 others. They are solid reliable cars that are cheap to maintain and drive.

 

I agree with u. My first car was a civic and I'm already on my second one. But now and days its so hard to find a clean civic with decent miles for a good price. I figured acuras would be good considering honda makes them. But thanks for the advice, and I shall pass it on to my sister.

 

not liking the 200k miles, u can find a good civic for 3k or less

 

whats a reasonable amount of miles for a civic thats worth around 3k or less

 

iight so my parents found a car for her...a 96-98(not sure the year) pontiac prix gt for 300 bucks...the dude the owns it got it giving to him and he cant get it on the road so he selling it for 300..2 issiues that it has so far is it needs a new muffler and the heat dont work..
