Eh, it's not that big of a deal and doesn't make much of a difference

it is a JOKE to say that VW and its companies dont share parts. They clearly do and clearly have been for many many years. which is why these companies are so great. The only thing that i dont like about european cars was the electrical problem , and that they do cost a bit more. but its worth it.

and you said that they share parts but have no part in building or design of those cars?? how does that work? let alone that a car is PARTS and Design. so they have already had part in HALF of the car, and what you said doesnt even make sense.. parts have everything to do with design as well. What, are they gonna sick the AWD system on the roof and no under the car? or maybe they wil reverse the chassis to make it better?? idk you tell me.
I never said they don't share parts. VW doesn't design the look of a Porsche, nor do they engineer the engines, nor do they design the interior. Porsche has their own team of engineers. sure, VW funds them, however the Porsche design team and engineers stick to Porsche. they don't design or engineer anything for VW. they share some parts and chassis', that's it. the SUVs are about the only Porsches that have anything in common with VW. you can't compare a carrera or 911 with any VW. Audi is a different story.

oh, and the NSX did hang with some Ferraris on road courses. it hasn't for a few years now, but it did.

well for one..we arnt talking about the past..so what the nsx did in the past. is in the past.

and 2. and your still not getting it. parts in a car is half the battle. who cares that they didnt make the shape of the PORSCHE. you want to talk about that? ok.. forget the slow and meaning less porsche....lets talk about the veyron. who VW pretty much not only funded. but had alot to do with just about all of that car. so your comments about that never happing (originaly pointless) are now really pointless. and how is audi a "different story", as you put it. VW owns Porsche. VW owns Audi. Seems like the same story to me.

pick a different tactic agains vw..cuz this ones not gonna work.

Look I never ment for this to blow up I just wanted to point out that VW has the means, know how, ability, and drive to make some of the best cars in the world be it on the performance side, be it in the luxory segment, or any combo of the two. I myself am not a fan of VW unless it is air cooled but I still know and give props to some of VW's designs, their ability, and drive to put out some of the best and coolest cars in the world.

I think some of VW's problems come from thier greed. They do have parts and assembly plants in Mexico if I'm not mistaken in order to save on manufacturing costs. (Not all vehicles but some). I like VW myself but would not ever buy one. VW Jetta is the only new vehicle to ever break down on me during the test drive. Salesman insisted the gas gauge was stuck and that we simply ran out of gas.....rrright.

Oh man, I saw this one coming from a mile away...

ORIGINAL: LORDofdaRINGS

3)thus, its more expensive to own(so is a ferrai, now those suck to?!?) less logically designed(are you kidding me?!?! the best designed cars in the world are european) and more liely to break down/catch on fire/ strart a facist regime(that one is funny) than a civic.
Comparing a VW to a Ferrari is just retarded... Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying YOU'RE retarded, but that statement has absolutely no relevance or value in this situation. We're discussing the merits and pitfalls of cars you might actually be able to own sometime in your life.

And as for your second statement, who decided which cars were the "best designed?" Sure some of them are sexy outside, but looks ain't everything.

4) ask him to name on advantage of driving it over a civic.
a) the interior doesnt make feel cheep enough to rob a hobo,
b) it has enough torque to make it up a steep hill with people in my car without having to redline every gear,
c) it can creat heat in the winter faster then 20 min.
d) it doesnt creep of the line without having to floor it,
e) the rear sound deck doenst rattle with any minor system change,
f) it doesnt COMPLEATLY suck in the winter,

thers just a few for ya, and this is coming from a BIG honda fan.
Touching, but these are all based on preferences/past experiences. I have had exactly zero of these "problems" with any of my (6) Civics, except maybe the torque one.

what HONDA hangs with and Ferrari? im pretty sure a civic doesnt. and the NSX doesnt so dont bring that up.
Actually it does...

depends on the ferarri. the NSX is no pushover car. its not the midlife crisis car the S2000 is. its more like a retirement car than anything.
