There are rumours that gas will eventually be rationed. I don't know if I can live on 1 quart a day.

i dont care if they cut down miles of rain forests to make gas cheaper...machavelianism....nature..beatiful forests...none of that crap matters to me...my brother works for an environmental agency, and he is all into conservation, although he has a 500hp 69 dodge that gets about 4 mpg...but honestly it makes no difference to me...people can spout off about this or that about nature or whatever...and im not into politics...all i care about is cheaper gas...

its cool that everyone has good points. i have come to realize that oil is something that we need, and we are going to be relying on for a good time to come.

yeah, even if everyone traded in there cars tommorow, for, say, nuclear, or hydrogen powered ones, we would still need a lot of oil for other stuff. as far as I know, we cant synthesize plastic. i mean, its synthetic enough. though needs would drop to the point that prices would be mute.

I am going to Alaska to team up with radical native indians and we will see how much oil gets pumped out of there. We could save SO MUCH more money if we made Detroit start pumping out some fuel efficient vehicles rather than retarded land vessels. And another thing, screw those Democrats who stayed home and didn't vote.

its like i posted before, look at the prices for a barrell of oil today, compared to 10 years ago when gas was $.93 a gallon. THEY ARE THE SAME, the government wants us to believe there is a shortage of oil to to bring gas prices up, which makes people think there is a shortage of oil, when there really isnt. All of this to justify the war, and the drilling. If people opened there eyes and were aware of what was going on, there would be a revolution. but people prefere to go throught life with there eyes shut. Im not going to tell people how to live, i just think everything is messed up.
thats funny, because it seems to me that 10 years ago, oil was roughly half the price it is now, even when adjusted for inflation. its not as bad now as everyone thinks it is, but dont believe propaganda until you research it. i dont think we should drill for that oil yet, but it IS a resource that we will need someday. im all for alternate fuel sources, and i think Bush is messing up royally on that, but we DO need oil, and not just for fuel. its used in a ton of other things. but we have to understand that there is still a lot of research being done on alternate sources, just not as much being funded by the US government. and seriously, how many soccer moms are gonna drive a hydrogen powered van/SUV? and if women had to plug them in to charge every night, how often would they be having problems with it? i am still occassionally catching my wife not arming her car alarm. i have to remind her about once every 2 months. but thats on a button she carries with her, not something extra she has to do before she can get in the house. we will be relying on gasoline for at least another 10-20 years. but we have plenty of oil for that, esp if they slowly lessen the amount that we rely on.
Not to steal the thread, but to tell you the truth, the war was BS(imo). Even though I'm not even american, I must say that I would rather have some "innocent" people die than the soldiers that are fighting there. At least saddam kept those bastards under control, now look what's going on there - it's a chaos. You can't force a democracy onto a country that is used to having a different type of governmant for their entire history. I say that the war is not going to accomplish anything. It may create a military state, but the people living there will never live in peace.

Back to the topic. Since America has already invaded Iraq - why not just take their oil? That would at least provide one good cause for the war. I know that it's very much easier said than done, but again, I'd rather have them do that than ruin Alaska.

Hail the amassing empire. What your saying is absolutely ridiculous. Why not just take their oil? Uh, how about the fact that it backs the ideology of "Might makes right." What your saying advocates China's reclamation of Taiwan, supports Saddam's invasion of Kuwait, and gives North Korea the right to invade South Korea. America has always had this idea of manifest destiny, but now it's just on a global level. Why not just take their oil? Because I don't like watching KPBS every night showing the faces of kids who got blown away that day and secondly, I don't want to pay for this occupation indefinitely.
