F and the F birth...

RE: F and the F birth...
Little entertaining story. I hung out with a group of guys in high school that came from very well to do families and they got the hook ups on their rides. One had a GS-R, the other a Prelude, and the last one a 240SX which he later traded for a GSX. I had the 4-door 88 Camry. The fast and the furious came out before all of us got our cars and I'll admit we were plagued. However I was the worse by far. While they were getting I/H/E and fuel management systems I was getting neon-lit pedals, washer nozzle lights, and walmart neon lights. It's cool, go ahead, laugh. I do now.
Then I got my Civic. My dear dear Maggie. I was totally reved to make mods happen. Then I was struck with the fact it's a standard four speed with a whopping 70hp. Oh yeah, CHP is not of my concern with those numbers I'm sure you can see. So here I am now waiting for the day when I get a professional job and can throw in a b18c5 with a cable transmission. Dreams sustain me.

is it your exhaust, or your intake that the sound is coming from more? I would love to have a setup with ITBs and a stock exhaust. I love the sound coming from the intake tract, more than a raspy exhaust note.

Mine sounds like a bees nest when its cold, but Im sure you meant a cheap *** exhaust. I personally like the sound of a full race setup.

Well right after i saw the movie I was looking more towards an buying an import, more so then I did before. However after my parents saw it they immediatly thought if I bought an import or as they put it "streetracer car" I would be getting into all sorts of trouble. Well I ended up buying a toyota tacoma, it was pretty quick but considering I was using about a half a tank each day it was getting expensive. Especially for a high school student. So I sold that and got in the market for a new car this time my parents were okay with me getting a import for gas mileage....Mainly becasue my dad had just recently bought an accord. And so after that I was in the market for a civic, and they finally gave in to the fact that i was going to upgrade it becasue if they diditn let me I was going to do it without them knowing. And yes my first mod was done without them knowing. So the movie made me re-think imports, as long as they were done right. in otherwords no primer body kits and wings made out of 2x4's and not having an exhaust that sounds like you have a hornets nest in it.

Those black civics were so sweet with the neons. I love it how the "Turbo" seems to make noise ALL the time, even as they slow down........

WERD! Mad7's and I had the same car in high school. Was yours the "luxury V6 edition"? I loved that car, beat the **** out of it for like 2 years and it always stood up to my torment. Until of course I threw a rod downshifting into second at 85mph on an off-ramp.....aaahhhh, the memories

The one thing I can boast for it though was my THUMPING system. I had 4 Eclipse speakers, Eclipse deck, a 600 Watt Kenwood Excelon Amp which I miss to this day and a 12 inch JLW3. This thing could be heard from the other side of town. The speakers were eternal and never gave out. Even the old man appreciated it. He barrowed it one night to go to Poker night a bit north of San Diego and when I turned the car on the next day it was up to the max. What was nice about the Camry is as long as I didn't bump it at school or the mall, nobody suspected I had anything more than the Eclipse deck which I locked with the CD key.

HELL YEAH! Dude, mine was the exact same way. Only, less low key. I had my seats folded down at all times with my two 12" JL's in a massive Rockford Fosgate box showing through. 540 Power Acoustic Gothic Series amp, and eclipse door and rear speakers. However, I lived in a small town, and not to sound conceded, but no one had any reason to mess with my ****. Plus, if someone stole it, I'd hear who had it the next day anyway, thats the good part about small towns, haha.
But yeah I had the more rare version of the car, the V6LE. It was actually a pretty fun car, for me being 16 and all. Mine also required about a quart of oil a week, which was THEE only thing to ever go wrong with the car, except the rod incident. At that was after I put over 70k on it in two years, and never changed the oil once.
