dam i hit vtec today again, when i realized i was going at 108mph...[&:] (not safe, and stupid, never going to do that again)

i realized that i was going at that speed when a burnt rubber smell started to come out of the front wheel wells...and my CV joint rubber boots are shot (they were shot since i bought the car) and it was the boots that started to melt with the heat generated by the speed and the moving parts...

anyways, I have to replace the CV joints and i feel like sh*t because of what I did

I am sorry if I **** anyone off but you people act way to enthused because you are "hitting vtec"

VTEC is not god, hell it is not even a top technology anymore. Every company from Mitsu to Chevy has their own form of it now.

Ok I'm going out on a limb here, but my first Jeep (Cherokee) with a I6 and a 5 speed had some *****, granted they were only between like 0-50, but that thing was a blast to drive. I miss it sooo much.

well, to equate american car companies variable valve timing systems to that of a DOHC VTEC is not fair to VTEC. its timing only, nothing for lift. besides exotics and luxury cars, there arent many, other than Honda and Toyota that do. not too familiar with Nissans system, or the new Mivec, but ive done a lot of searching for any american cars with lift control, and couldnt find any.

I don't care for VTEC much...I rarely take my needle up there...but it's fun to feel the pull in first/second between 3 to 5K and going through krewstown road in second at 5-6K RPM is something I can't miss... and that road is the only twisty road around here...:-D
