I havent had my clutch on my Honda replaced yet, but when I did on my Eclipse, it was $500. And that was "getting a deal on labor" from my uncle.

I was talking about this with my teacher today. We just got a new shop car b/c the guy who owns the car doesn't wanna pay $400 to get a new clutch installed. Instead we got the car, gonna buy a $100 clutch and install it in class. Installing a clutch seems like a pretty big job but we have a lift and a tranny jack. How much of a hassle is it to install a new clutch at home?

that helps to hold the motor up. its definately easier if you have another person. one person might be able to do a d-series one alone at home though. but i still say, dont get under your car alone.

i pulled the tranny in my track car by myself...and it probably weighs more than the whole civic drivetrain...

For a DIY, lifts and tranny jacks aren't absolutely necessary. The tranny is light enough that (if you're careful) you can manhandle it out just by laying under it and lifting it out. You do want to at least put a small floor jack under the oil pan with a piece of 2x6 or something on it to distribute the weight and prevent it from denting. And of course you want to get the car up on jackstands.
