Default Heat treating, cryo treating...

Guys, I need to strengthen a couple of gears, now who know the advantages/disadvantages and prices and places to get this done? I'm looking to find out which process is best and which is the most cost effective...

My friend's brother had some tranny parts cryo treated so I'll try to get some info out of him. Something about freezing the parts makes them harder at a molecular level and therefore makes them stronger. You can also look into shot peening, which is when you take a part and shoot metal ***** at it. It also strenghts the part. I believe is is usually used to strenghten connecting rods.

shot peening is out of question, these are gears and I'm afraid they could get damaged in the process. These are transmission parts.
