ok i have a 03 ford focus se.... i somehow got a tciket goin 114??? i wasnt i was following my parents on cruise going 80 i know my car has a speed restrictor that stops it goin 110 if any one knows what its called or knows how to look it up please help i cant pay this huge of ticket ill losse my licsense so if anyone knows please help with a link or what it might be called

 

What state do you live in? If your telling the full truth, go to the dealer have them getting you something showing your vehicles govenor has not been modified, and some sort of report showing what the cut off speed is. Take it to court and it should be able to get you out. technically that fast you should have been arrested. So that might be something to research.

 

that is a easy fix, go to court and tell them about the limiter and make a point to say your tires are not rated at that speed therefore will not stay together either

ok i know im only sixteen it was crazy and i live in utah and i wasnt goin that fast... but ya i should go to the dealer and it should get me off.... but ya that makes sense thanks ma

 

ok i know of the limiter but still how do i prove it any help or links cuz i need this to show in court which sucks.. i live in west jordan and i have to go fight it in cedar city haha so ya i dont want to make a waste or a drive or court date

+1. Its usually a good idea to get a lawyer especially in your case where there is something fishy going on. A 114MPH ticket is a big thing so I wouldn't risk it by going into court without a lawyer.

 

if he has a report from a dealer...then he doesnt need a lawyer to prove facts... also, the tire trick will help a little..but every one knows speed ratings dont mean if you hit them for 1 second they explode. lol.. but yeah....thats about it...

You dont need any links, just call (or got to your dealer, which ever works best for you) and tell them whats up, you might have to pay for them to run a diagnostic on it...but maybe not, all dealers are different, and im not sure how a ford dealer would handle that. but if i asked my honda dealer if he could help me, he would pull up a tech sheet that has my cars weight, engine, horse power, torque, redline, all that good stuff...speed limiter as well...and i think that should be all you need.

 

i dont know about utah but out here in california they let you off with not paying a ticket by doing community service. im cool with the athletic director so i got him to write a letter saying i did a bunch of community service and now i dont have to pay **** (woulda been like over 300 dollars for the two tickets i had)

 

its called the governor chip. Also im sure you can look up on your ECU, the fastest your car has ever gone, RPMS and such
