How are you with driving tickets?
In Florida they can. If they run his tag it will show that he's hearing impared and they will know what action to take...ex., getting beside him with the lights on. I'm not sure what other states are like this. He can't get a class A CDL, but he actually drives a huge tractor for the city with a class B license.
First and only speeding ticket: 112km/h in a 90. I was driving my old Suzuki Sidekick back home from working out in the boonies all week, and I was stuck behind this slow *** tour bus that was going under the speed limit. So as soon as a straight stretch came up, I backed off the bus and then gunned it to get up some speed to pass. Unfortunately, as soon as I was nearing escape velocity, (around 130 I figure) a cop drove by in the other lane and immediately flicked on his lights and turned around to pull me over. I didn't even argue, cause he got me fair and square. I think the ticket was $240, but I paid it within 7 days, so it was like 20% off or something.
Had a couple warnings, the most ridiculous of which was getting pulled over for going through a yellow light. The cop asked me, "Do you know what a yellow light means?" To which I replied, "Yes, stop if it's safe. But I was nearly in the intersection when the light turned yellow, it would have been an unsafe stop." Then he went on about how he thought I was speeding and blah blah blah, but eventually just gave me my license back and let me go on my merry way. The other entertaining one was when I was in California and I had a rented Nissan Altima. I wanted to see how she handled the corners, so I went pretty quickly around one on campus. Unfortunately, the campus police saw that, and pulled me over. But when I gave him my BC driver's license and rental car registration, he came back from his car and said, "You're lucky, I guess we have some kind of deal with Canada, so I'm going to let you go." Which to me meant that either a. he didn't know what he was doing and couldn't enter my information into his computer, or b. didn't want to bother with the paperwork.
Traffic ticket #2: "Wrong way on Freeway." So I was coming up to the border crossing at Blaine, WA to cross back into Canada after meeting my Grandpa in Bellingham for dinner, and just as I came over the hill where you can see the crossing, I had to come to a stop because of the HUGE line of cars waiting to cross. I was kind of in a hurry because I was heading up to Whistler that evening, and I still had to stop back at my apartment to grab my skis and gear and everything, and I happened to come to a stop right next to the on-ramp of the last exit from the freeway before the border. Now, there is another border crossing just east of the main one that I was stuck at, and its usually deserted because its mostly for commercial traffic. By my estimate I would have been waiting at least an hour and a half, probably more like 2 hours, if I stayed where I was, so I checked thoroughly in all directions for traffic, TURNED ON MY HAZARD LIGHTS, (probably how they saw me) and turned on to the RIGHT SHOULDER of the on-ramp. I drove extremely slowly (like 5 or 10mph at most) down the shoulder of the on-ramp, stopped at the intersection, waited for the light to change in my favor, (there was no traffic, but I waited anyway) and then made a left turn on to the road so that I was going back the right way and towards the other border crossing. At this point the cop pulled out of a parking lot behind me and tailed me for a few blocks before he pulled me over. He told me he pulled me over because I was going the wrong way on the on-ramp, which technically I was, but I thought I was being very safe about it. I tried to explain to him why I did it and everything, but no dice. Also he had his supervisor/partner/whatever with him, so I'm guessing that's why I got hit with (I'm guessing the maximum amount) of a $411 ticket! YES, $411!!!!!! !(!)#(&*@(*!@&
Luckily the back of the ticket gives you the option of a "mitigation hearing" to explain the circumstances of your ticket and get a possible reduction. So I mailed the ticket in requesting the mitigation hearing, and they sent me back a notice saying "We have reviewed your driving record and your offense, and you qualify for the following reduction:" And they reduced it to a much more manageable, but still PITA $275. Either way, that's the last time I try to do anything like that again. Jesus.
*Edit* The other border crossing WAS deserted, so even with the cops pulling me over for 20 mins or so, I still saved tons of time over waiting at the crossing with the huge line.

The only moving violation I've had is "Assured Clear Distance" about two years ago, almost totalled my car.
Seat belt/window tint/taillight tint/licence plate cover- I was going down a 4 lane road with the center lane for turning left.I was in the left lane approaching a street on the left. Some stupid *** lady in a minivan pulls out into the middle directly next to me (which i'm fine with), but then she abruptly moves over into my lane. After nearly running me off the road and nearly making me hit the car next to me trying to avoid her stupid ***, I see my city's finest right behind ME. Yes, they watch as this bitch drives off, and keep in mind the cop saw the whole thing since he was monitoring traffic on the side of the road. So, after following me for a few side streets, i pull into the fire lane of a school to drop off my brother. He lights me up as I pull in. I was so tired i had no clue i had no seatbelt on, and i didn't even think of putting it on as he pulled me over...so he mentions that, my window tint, my sprayed tinted tails, and my rear plate cover. Thankfully, he gave me a warning for all of the tail, tint, and plate cover stuff and just gave me the seat belt ticket. He claimed he didn't see the near sideswipe crash with the minivan, i don't know how he could miss that though, it happened right infront of him and i was laying on the horn. Since this which happened in January, i still have the tint, i lightened the tails to a smoked color almost like a dark ruby red color which looks real nice,I put the licence plate cover on the front instead (lol)
No speeding tickets since i have a very good radar detector (knock on wood)Yes they actually can work if you get a quality one. You need to learn how to interpret what it's telling you, that's the key to avoiding the tickets.

i am 16 an i have had 2 tickets the first one was a parking ticket at a university while i still had my permit. it was dumb cause it was a $45 ticket but on the ticket it had a list of violations and i could have parked on the grass and it would have only been a $30 ticket... my second ticket was 5months after i got my license i was supposedly going 72 in a 55... thing about it is that i was going around a turn right after a steep hill and there is no way my lil d15b7 could wind her up to 72 in a quarter mile from a dead stop while taking a 90 degree turn after going up a hill... and the cop was oncoming, im pretty sure he just heard my exhaust/stereo and was mad... i havent gotten any more tickets mostly because if i get another one i loss my license.
AND FOR EVERYONE WHO THINKS THERE A SUPERIOR DRIVER BECAUSE THEY HAVENT GOTTEN A TICKET!!
1) this post is for stories about getting tix so go toot your horn on your own thread
2) most of the time the reason you get picked to get a ticket instead of the guy next to you is how much your car stands out so i guess you just have boring cars. the other factor is age and gender (if the cop can see you)
3) whether or not you get a ticket has nothing to do with your driving abilities!

Wow. Thread resurrected from the dead.
Anyhow, just one. It was utter crap. I got a speeding ticket for 58 in a 45. Thing is, I was on the on ramp, merging onto a highway thats 75. But according to the cop that gave me the ticket, you are supposed to merge at the speed of the previous road and continue doing that until you see a speed limit sign. What a load of crap.... Makes me want to merge on doing 35 the next time a cop is behind me.

knock on wood
i have 2 tickets... ugh
one for going 50 in a 45... but it was really 50 in a 50, they had just changed the speed limit but the dumbass sheriff didn't even know the law.
and then one for going 70 in a 55 (he gave me a break and wrote me off for 64 in a 55). I was on US1, in the boondocks, and I had an interstate mindset. (I don't drive in that part of US1 much, and I'm used to I95's 70mph limit). I even looked at the speedo and was like, oh good i'm not speeding. Then came the flashing lights and i was pissed.
