knee replacement surgery
i know this might not be the right place to post but has anyone on this forum ever had knee replacement surgery what are the pros and cons, recovery time ,pain and anything that would help i'm facing the surgery late next month thanks
My step grandma had a replacement a few weeks ago. The first few days are extremely rough as they really have to tear your knee apart to put it back together. She's feeling a lot better now, but it's a long recovery.
Good luck!
Good luck!
I just got referred again, for Total Knee replacement.. I am going to have it done within th enext year or so ( as money allows, or if my leg totally locks)
Look in to thed Stryker method/products
http://www.stryker.com/jointreplacem...knee/index.php
From what I understand its the best method/product, with the shortest recovery time.
This is what I will be going with.. supposedly has the best fittment, adn is computer aided in the surgery.
Good luck .. and trust me I feel your pain.. Crushed the cartlidge in my right knee when I was 5. was told I would need the surgery before i was 20 years old. I am now 33 been bone on bone for well over 15 years now.. played a lot of sports until I was a Sr in High school ( mainly Basketball, and Soccer, and Racquetball)
I went to the chiropractor about 6 months ago, and was asked " Did you know that your right leg is over an inch shorter than your left leg?"
Heh.. told him my story, and he told me it is time to get it replaced..
Anyhow.. enough about me.. good luck on your surgery.. do some research on the methods.. and talk to a few Orthopedic Surgeons, adn see what methods they suggest.. Luckily for me I have one of the best Orthopedic surgeons in the US here in town ( Dr Pete Indellicato. He does all the Ortho Surgeries for the University of Florida Sports Program GO GATORS!)

when you say knee replacement, you mean that they are actually replacing the bone? i have had my left knee fully rebuilt...i tore my ACL, MCL, PCL, and meniscus...as well as cracking the femur...i know alot about it..i had to learn to walk again at 23...[:@]
Good for you man. I know someone that's needed the surgery but has avoided it for a long. Being so physically limited has caused her serious health problems (very overweight), and it's probably taken 10 years off her life by now. It's best to get it done sooner than later.
For me.. I know they are replacing the bone nds with titanium, and placing nylon where the cartlidge used to be ( at least that is how the old surgeries I have watched were done..
Now as far as the Stryker style, I believe its the same.. cut of the bone ends (actually shape them like half of a stop sign) fit with titanium ends stc and so on.. main difference is the Stryker style is computer aided for better fittment.
